I am so excited to introduce you to a trusted colleague and fellow color enthusiast, Jewelry Designer Sara Silvio. Years ago, a client of mine introduced me to Sara's work and since then I have had the pleasure of analyzing her colors, choosing pieces which have become favorites in my own jewelry collection and collaborating to bring our clients masterfully crafted wearable art.

Having things in order and making them beautiful has always been integral to who I am. Most of us don’t operate well in chaos, but this is especially true for me. As a child, I found it calming to place objects, such as my colored pencils or nail polish, into a rainbow pattern or tones within a color. I still do this today, now with art, books or materials in my studio. What inspires me most in my work are the unique materials that I have hand-picked in my travels. As luck would have it, many traders I’ve encountered in India and other places also arrange their selections of gemstones by color.

Some years back, a close friend of mine shared her experience of seeing Kerry. The moment I put my hands on her swatch book, I felt magnetically connected to what Kerry was doing. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her exquisite arrays of colors.

Of course, I had to get my own color done and upon discovering that I am a Dark Winter I resonated completely.  The rich, deep colors are those that I feel most myself in and express myself in the jewelry I wear.  After learning about the process, I invited Kerry to my studio. I was truly inspired by our shared passion for color, and the lenses through which we see the world. Shortly afterward, I acquired all twelve of her swatch books! We instantaneously bonded over aesthetics and order. Holding them in my hand, looking through each season, and getting the feel for each season and how the seasons flow into each other became a meditation that is still powerfully grounding for me today.

Sara Silvio Jewelry Organized by Indigo Tones 12 Seasonal Tones

Kerry and I decided to take all of the materials that I have collected over the years and organize them by the twelve seasons–basically the best project EVER. The drawers of my red craftsman are now lined with the colors of each season accompanied by a swatch book. The jewelry that I create aligns with these seasons, from the gem tones to the metals. The language of color analysis infused into jewelry design is by far one of my favorite languages of love. Working together and designing within this framework is ever-evolving and couldn’t be more perfect for me as an artist.

I believe our colors and their season is a place to feel special, beautiful, and rooted. When someone finds a piece of jewelry that aligns with their season, it brings out their inner radiance. When we feel comfortable and beautiful in who we naturally are, it helps us to become the best version of ourselves and really shine. When we land into ourselves, we tap into our wholeness and a sense of belonging, and who doesn’t want to feel that?

I offer people the experience to feel whole and luminous every day. I continue to explore the single elemental question of how to be vivid in the expression of self, while creating jewelry that helps others to do the same.

"I love having my clothing all in harmony, accented with jewelry from Sara Silvio. Her designs are everyday pieces and coordinate easily with my Cool Summer wardrobe (all silver for me!). It is now so simple to create style and comfort bringing me a sense of confidence, beauty and femininity.   Lori, Cool Summer

It is my pleasure to introduce you to this month’s Dark Winter feature, eyebrow, skincare and permanent hair removal expert, Gia Pauldine. Gia was one of my first clients when I started my color analysis business nearly 20 years ago. It was around that time that she also founded her business, Restoration Electrolysis, LLC

Gia was easy to analyze. Her deep brown hair worked well with black and dark brown neutrals that were then and still are so easy to shop for.  A few pops of rich reds, deep greens and purples and she was good to go for many years.  When she decided to go gray more recently and wondered how to incorporate it with her clothing choices, we had the pleasure of reconnecting and working on her wardrobe and closet. I was amazed at how gorgeous her skin looked and she introduced me to some of the skin revitalization services she offers now including light therapy. Learn more about her unique, wholistic eyebrow makeovers and skincare maintenance to the process she went through in letting her hair go naturally from a dark brown to a multi-hued gray and how it impacted her clothing choices.

It’s a treat to introduce you to this month's colorful lives feature, Soft Autumn Tim Stich who is also my son!! Tim’s experience with shopping for clothing and wearing color is unique as I become a color analyst when he was quite young. When he and his sister Clare were little, I tried dressing them in bright colors with strong patterns as was the style then.....but even before learning about personal color harmony,  I started to sense that the clothes overwhelmed them and began dressing them in softer colors and solids. I was even shocked the other day to discover when I pulled out his school photos that every single photo (even before I learned of his color palette) was taken in a Soft Autumn color. You can see how his life has evolved wearing the soft, earthy colors that suit his ruddy hair, freckles and soft blue/green eyes.

Over the years, he has mostly been very eager to wear what suits him and looked to me to help him distinguish soft autumn colors from the two seasons nearby - warm autumn and soft summer.  We enjoy shopping together, especially now that he lives in Manhattan and the shopping is abundant. It can be a challenge to find his colors in sizes and style that fit but when its perfect, it feels great and he knows it.  Read on to learn more about what it’s like to be a guy whose mom is a color consultant!

Indigo Tones Colorful Lives Blog featuring Soft Summer Valerie Peterson

I am so excited to introduce you the “entertainingly irreverent” (Associated Press) Soft Summer, Valerie Peterson. Valerie is an extraordinary storyteller in a variety of media including scriptwriting, screenplays, fiction, non-fiction and book publishing/consulting. I analyzed her colors years ago in Rhode Island at a girls weekend hosted by a mutual friend (color analysis and girls weekends make a great combo!). In the years since, Valerie has embraced her Soft Summer colors in spite of living and working in New York City where black is a standard and practical.

It was a thrill when her publisher chose a photo of my family for her wonderfully spirited book, Peterson’s Happy Hour. On page 46, you can find me with my family - brothers, Mike and Tim and my parents Marcia and J. Michael Jones circa 1970. The book features many more photographic gems and recipes for a fabulous social gathering!

In this month’s colorful lives blog, Valerie shares her journey with her color palette. As with all her writing projects, she is humorous, colorful and entertaining!  She has kept in great condition and still uses the Sci Art swatch book that I provided back in those days!!  Be sure to check out her large body of work on valeriepeterson.net and read more in the blog:
